Reporting Concerns

Concerned about a child or young person?

If you are concerned about a child in Walsall or need some advice about Early Help you can contact us:

  • During office hours (Monday – Thursday, 8.45am – 5.15pm Friday, 8.45am – 4.45pm) by calling the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (Initial Response Service (IRS)on 0300 555 2866 option 2;
  • Out of office hours (evenings, weekends and bank holidays) by calling the Emergency Response Team on 0300 555 2922.

If a child or young person is at immediate risk of harm, contact the police on 999, then make a referral to Walsall Children’s Social Care.

Professionals can use the Electronic Multi-Agency Referral Form (eMARF) form to make a referral to Walsall Children’s Social Care where there is a safeguarding concern for a child or young person who lives in Walsall.

Before you make a referral using the eMARF

You should consider the Right Help, Right Time Threshold Guidance. This will make sure that the right support and intervention is offered to children, young people and their families at the right time. You should also discuss your concerns with your Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

To report concerns or allegations against people who work or volunteer with children please contact Walsall’s Local Authority Designated Officer.
